Johannesburg, South Africa – The Township Entrepreneurs Alliance TEA, the driving force behind South Africa’s township and rural entrepreneurial ecosystem, proudly presents the 7th Annual Township Economy Summit with the Awards being launched this year. Over the past ten years, TEA has directly empowered more than 100,000+ township entrepreneurs, TEA has a national footprint covering all majority of South African townships and this year’s two-day Summit & Awards promises to be our most impactful yet, celebrating innovation, resilience, and growth within South Africa’s vibrant township economy.

Championing the Township Economy
The Township Economy Summit is set to address the critical need for an inclusive and thriving economic future in South Africa by focusing on the unique challenges and opportunities within the township economy. This Summit will convene township entrepreneurs, corporate leaders, and government officials to explore actionable strategies for unlocking the full potential of a sector valued at over R900 billion. The main objective of the Summit is to unlock opportunities, information & networking.
Key industries that will be unpacked during the Summit include:
- Green Economy: Uncovering sustainable practices and opportunities for township entrepreneurs in this burgeoning sector.
- Manufacturing: Exploring the possibilities of establishing and scaling manufacturing businesses in townships.
- Wholesale & Retail: Identifying market entry points and growth opportunities for township businesses within these sectors.
- Automotive Industry: Delving into business opportunities related to vehicle repairs, parts supply, and sales within townships.
- Construction: Exploring infrastructure and building project opportunities within the township context.

Honoring Township Excellence
The Township Economy Awards will shine a spotlight on the extraordinary entrepreneurs who are driving economic growth and uplifting their communities from within the townships. These Awards aim to recognise their achievements, inspire a new generation of innovators, and create opportunities for further development. Categories include Innovation in Manufacturing, Green Business of the Year, and Youth Entrepreneur of the Year.

Exhibitor Opportunities
Exhibitors will have the chance to present their products and services to over 1,000 township entrepreneurs and other key stakeholders. Packages include:
- Township Businesses: R900 per stall (including VAT), inclusive of a table, tablecloth, two chairs, and a POS device for the two-day Summit.
- Corporate and Government Exhibitors: Customised packages are available upon request.
Awards Ceremony
The Awards Ceremony in November 2025 will recognise outstanding township entrepreneurs across multiple categories. Tickets, starting at R900, will be available soon.
